This is the third HexBug my son has purchased. This one resembles a beetle to our way of thinking. All of the bugs in this series have been winners and this one is no exception. My son is thrilled with this addition to his collection of HexBugs.

It creeps along very bug like but backs away if you clap your hands in front of it or it comes to a wall. Sometimes, it gets stuck banging up against a wall and can get lost under furniture. This bug does not perform well on carpets or beds – it must have a hard surface to crawl properly.

I think this toy is worth the price since it provides lots of playtime as my kids (and husband) devise obstacle courses for it, battle it against other HexBugs and love to bring it outside. It has gotten lost a few times inside the house as they leave it to crawl around on it’s own but the small noise of its mechanical legs helps track it down.

We bought these for our grandsons for a Christmas Eve gift. They had so much fun playing together. There are so many colors and styles. Seemed like they would hold up pretty nicely by the way they are made.

I gave this to my husband’s nephew for Christmas and by the end of the night, he was carrying it around everywhere and even the adults were playing with it. Very cute!
